Are you one of those people who secretly sing in the shower? Or maybe you were part of your high school or college “Glee” club? If so, the Celebration Community Chorus is right up your alley. And the best part is, you don’t have to be a Pavarotti or a Celine Dion to join. If you are you 18 years of age or above and love to sing, you’re in – no choral experience or audition is necessary. Long time Celebration resident, Kristopher Schave, has agreed to conduct our group of songsters. Originally from Peoria, Illinois, Kris sang for 3 years as chorister with OPERA!

Illinois Opera Company under Maestro Fiora Contino in such productions as Un Ballo In Mascara, Lucia di Lammermoor, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Cavalleria Rusticana. In 1997, Kris moved to Central Florida where he has enjoyed a 13 year performing career with the Walt Disney Company. A few of his favorite theatrical roles have included Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance, Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Billy in Anything Goes, and Al DeLuca in A Chorus Line.

His experience as music director has included such shows as The Music Man, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, 1776, and Bye, Bye Birdie. Kris is currently continuing his study of music at the University of Central Florida under renowned opera baritone Thomas Potter. Those of you who may have worked with Kris in the past know that he is all about having fun while tuning up for a great performance.Our first “gig” will be a July 4th Concert. Selections will include: Yankee Doodle Dandy (can you kazoo?), a medley of the United States armed forces theme songs, God Bless America and other patriotic music guaranteed to give you goose bumps. From there we hope to participate at other major events in town such as Veterans and Founders day and Holiday Fest.

Rehearsals begin on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center (851 Celebration Ave.). So loosen up those old rusty vocal pipes and come sing along with Kris! Registration forms are available at the Community Center.
