Osceola County Commissioners have announced new digital flood hazard maps that show the extent to which areas throughout the county are at risk for flooding.

Approximately 11,000 properties throughout the county may have been affected. You should have received a letter from the county if your property is among those affected by the new map. The first public open house regarding the map will be held August 16 at The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners Chambers, Suite 4100, 4th floor (1 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, FL 34741).
The open house will give residents the opportunity to view the new maps, understand how their properties may be affected and learn more about financial steps they may need to make decisions about protecting themselves and their properties.
The updated flood hazard maps are still preliminary and have not yet been officially adopted. There will be 90 day public comment period where property owners can submit appeals and protests if they disagree with the maps.
To learn more about the flood map modernization project, view the new digital flood maps, dates and location of upcoming meetings. Residents are encouraged to visit: http://www.osceola.org/go/floodplain
